Deriving the Ideal BJT Parameters

After finishing tutorials 1-4, we are in a position to extend the framework in tutorial 2, and obtain the ideal BJT parameters for two new transistors: (1) the 2N3904, an NPN transistor, and (2) the 2N3906, a PNP transistor.

The SPICE models of these two transistors are contained in the 2N390X.lib model file.

You are then expected to complete the table below:

2N3904 (NPN)2N3906 (PNP)
$\left|I_S\right|$
$n$
$\left|V_A\right|$
$\beta\,\left(@I_C=1\mathrm{mA}\right)$
$\beta\,\left(@I_C=10\mathrm{mA}\right)$
Table 1: Ideal BJT Transistor Parameters

You will need to make sure that you create the appropriate test circuit for a PNP transistor.

What to Submit:

  • A short 1-page writeup of your methodology with the completed Table 1, including:
    • The schematic you used to obtain the ideal BJT parameters for both transistor (not included in the 1-page limit).
    • The necessary graphs and figures to support your answers (not included in the 1-page limit).
  • The SPICE netlist you used.

Submissions:

Using your EEE account, submit your report and netlist using this link.
